The aim of this book is to provide the key criminal law statutes that apply to English criminal
law. They are printed incorporating any amendments made by 1st May 2012. At the end of
each statute I have referred to the legislation which has amended the original legislation. The
statutes are published in chronological order. However, there are also indices of them
alphabetically and thematically.
There are over 10,000 offences in English law and, of course, it has not been possible to include
them all. I have selected those which most commonly are used in undergraduate criminal law
courses or are of general interest. I am grateful to Damian Mitchell and Emma Nugent at
Routledge for their help and advice in preparing this book.
