I would like to start by thanking former tutors, some of whom are now colleagues at Keele Law School, Jane Krishnadas, Ambreena Manji, Zoe Pearson, Mario Prost, and Dania Thomas for their roles in developing my interests in international law, human rights, and social justice and to the realisation that being an academic was a career option. To Mario for his unforgettable first ‘International Law’ lecture featuring family guy and to Jane from our first encounter in Law in Action, to the exchange programme with the TATA Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai as part of my MA programme shaped my intellectual curiosity. To my Grandad who flew to Goa on a holiday during my exchange, who used to swell with pride talking about me as I was “book smart” and made it to university.
